So after i had been playing wow fr four months someone realized i didn’t have any addons and taught me the errors of my ways…I got fitted out with things like Titan Panel, cartographer, various bag addons and some other randoms. Since that time my tastes have changed, with each new installation of wow (for various reasons i think i am up to 7 or 8) came new addons to try, old ones tossed away and an ever watchful eye for new goodies to enhance my game play..

So for this post i wanted to see what you are using, if you are using, or if you need help with the whole addon idea itself!

if you are looking for new addons there are links to some great sites on the right hand side of the general page.

When you are just getting started, lack of money can be a challenge. Since coming to this server just a few weeks ago with zero money I have made over 400g, and none of my toons are over level 20 yet. This method can easily be used by toons as low as level 1 and only takes about 20 minutes to do. You can log you alt, do a little money making, and then log your main for leveling. There is very low risk in this method. You WILL double the money you spend doing it. If you spend 20s you will make 40s+, if you spend 20g you will make 40g++.

Here is what you will need:

Here are the basics of what we will be doing in this method.

  1. Buy up as much of the cheapest green armor and weapons as you can afford
  2. Disenchant them
  3. Sell the resulting enchanting materials on the auction house
  4. Collect all your money :)

First things first. This guide assumes you know the basics of using the Auctioneer addon and how to use the auction house (AH). While I will explain the mechanics of how to quickly do this method, I will not go into the detail on Auctioneer or the AH. This also works best after having scanned the AH daily for at least a week.

Step 1. Buy up items to Disenchant

Start by selecting the armor category in the AH window. Choose uncommon as the filter for results. Hit the search button. You will be given a list of all the items that are green or better currently listed on the AH. Now hit the price heading two times to sort your results from lowest to highest and hit search again. Now you have the same list but with the cheapest items listed first.

Begin going through the list and buying as many items as you want. I generally do not go over 40s on any one item. If you can spend 5-20s each on the items that is even better. Ideally you are looking for items the disenchant into 2.5+ [Strange Dust] or better. Certain items like the [Solid Bronze Ring] are perfect items for this method.

Repeat the steps above with whatever money you have left in the weapons category. For weapons, the best results are ones the disenchant into 1.5 [Greater Magic Essence] or better.

TIP – be sure are leave yourself at least 5s when done purchasing so you have enough money to post your enchant mats.

Step 2. Disenchant all the purchased items.

Now run over to your mailbox and begin collecting your purchases and disenchanting each one. It helps to have at least 8 slot bags in all of your slots. This will only cost you about 40s to buy on the AH and it should be your first purchase with you new income

After working through all your items, depending on how much money you were working with, you should have at least a couple stacks of [Strange Dust], [Greater Magic Essence], and some other misc. mats.

Step 3. Post all the new enchanting mats on the AH.

This is pretty straight forward. Post all the mats you just disenchanted on the AH. I use the “post auctions” tab of Auctioneer for this and generally all the addon to price each auction for me.

If you did not scan the AH before starting this session I generally hit the UIrefresh button before posting the first stack of each item. This will get the current price listing on the AH for just that item. This gives you the most accurate snapshot of what your competition is listed as.

After having posted all your auctions it’s time to logout and do something else for a few hours.

Step 4. Collect all your money!

Depending on the time of day you posted your auctions, you might needs to wait up to six hours for all your auctions to be purchased. You might only need to wait 30 minutes. Almost any time of day is good for this method on the Caelestrasz server since it has players from across the globe (across the timezones)

If you are using the Postal addon, hit the Open All button and laugh all the way to the bank over your newly earned money

The guild bank is open for business. All members above Initiate level will have the ability to add and remove items from the 1st tab of the bank. These items will primarily be things important for getting your toon a good start in WoW. Things like bags, weapons, armor, and mats for first aid.

We invite all members to stop by the bank and check it out and don’t forget to read our guild bank policy.

For upper level players, we would really encourage you to not sell those extra 8 slot bags, or 20 stacks for linen cloth for 30s. Drop them in the bank where they will be really appreciated by our newer members and alts

Last night, with the help of Liz, I made my 3rd run through Dead Mines and as I knelt in anticipation while looting Edwin VanCleef my heart skipped a beat as I realized the final piece ([Blackened Defias Armor]) of the Blackened Defias Set had dropped!

It is just so fun to complete an armor set. Even at this level (20) it provides such a sense of accomplishment…and it looks fricken awesome too!

So Stephen (a.k.a. Bëor, Super Officer) told me about this experience his friend had in a guild where everyone was on a first name basis. I mean a first name In Real Life basis while in game. How awesome is that? I love the idea. When you consider your guild is kinda like your family while in game, taking off one layer of amnimity is a big deal. It really helps you connect with your guild mates in a whole new way.

So…from here on out, if you so choose, Children of Iluvatar will be open to first name basis among members and officers. To help this out we will encourage anyone interested to add their first name in the guild info for your toons. To add your first name to your toon’s guild info open up the Social Palette (o), click on the guild tab, find your toon in the list, and add your name to the note in the info box.

What do you think? Is this an awesome idea or what?

So we have a lot of new people in our guild, and i want to give you a chance to read about what part your character (or “toon”) will play in an instance. Read what is here before you go into a guild instance, its amazing how much it will help you survive! Remember, comments are awesome…participation is awesome…let me know what you think of the post..changes you might make or things you might add! The following is all from Blizzards website, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/partyroles.html

Party Roles

ach player should be aware of the tools their class provides for managing the battle and any aggro mitigating abilities they may possess. Frequently, warriors and paladins are expected to act as tanks, soaking up damage for their more tender counterparts, while casters and hunters attack at range. Detailed below are some of the different types of roles there are in parties.

Tanks

o, we don’t mean “thanks”, we mean tanks! A tank is a character designed to take a lot of physical damage/abuse from monsters while still fighting on! Just like..uh..a.. tank? True tanks include Warriors, Paladins, Druids in Bear Form, and certain Pets. If any character is fighting with a monster with their melee attack with the monster attacking them they can be said to be “tanking”.

Purpose: The purpose of a tank in a party is to absorb and deflect damage from other weaker party members, such as casters. A tank is much more capable of taking physical damage than other party members.

Tank Jobs

Taunting
Tanks typically have an ability that will taunt the monster off another player. Whenever a weaker party member, such as a Mage or Priest, is attacked they should let the tank know such by saying “someone on me.” The tank should immediately find the monster attacking the party member and use their taunt ability until the monster starts attacking them instead. That way the tank continues to save the other party members by taking all the damage and the casters do their job of healing the tank or blasting the monster.

Pulling
Another usual role for the tank is to pull monsters for the group. The tank typically has a lot of hit points and can withstand more damage. Tanks should have some ability or weapon that allows them to pull with a ranged attack. [Learn more about pulling]

Leading
The tank is usually responsible for leading the group around to their destinations.

First in, last out
The tank should be the first person into battle under most circumstances. If the party is forced to run, the tank should stick around taking more damage and possibly even die in order to buy time for the other party members to escape. The other party members can then resurrect the dead tank.

Primary Tanks vs. Secondary Tanks
If there are multiple tanks in a group, a primary tank should be chosen. The secondary tanks are responsible for helping out the main tank but typically don’t have to worry about taunting, pulling, or leading. They just help do additional damage.

Healers

healer is any class with the ability to heal other characters. Healers include Shamans, Paladins, Druids, and Priests. A group is always better off with a healer. Parties without a healer are possible, but are typically more challenging and, some say, less fun. Healers are very popular in parties.

Purpose: To heal party members and keep them alive.

Healers are not for everyone. There are good healers and bad healers. Good healers do a good job of healing everyone and almost always heal at the right time; bad healers don’t. Always try to learn and accept tips on becoming a better healer. Good healers are in high demand. If you’re a good healer, word spreads and people remember you. You may find yourself finding more groups and more respect!

How to be a Good Healer

  • Always pay attention to party members’ hit points. You don’t want to be in a situation where party members die and you could have saved them if you were paying attention.
  • Learn control methods to heal people faster. One way to do it is with hot keys such as Function keys which select party members and the number keys associated with the healing spell.
  • Give a verbal confirmation that you’re healing someone so they don’t freak out or think you’re not “on it.” Example: “healing j”
  • Let your party members know they can always ask for healing or remind you at any time. They can even use the voice macro: “/v heal“.
  • If a monster is attacking you, preventing you from healing, let the tank know so he can save you.

Mana Spell Management
As the healer levels up, the healer receives multiple healing spells. It’s important that the healer figures out what is the best heal to use for the situation. There are factors to consider such as cast time (don’t want people to die while casting), and healing per mana cost. It’s wise to keep several healing spells on the action bar and use them based on the situation.

Tricks of the Masters

  • Get a stock of Mana Potions to use for emergency situations.
  • Always have a supply of drinks. Drinks regenerate mana.

Casters

caster is a spell caster. Casters include: Mages, Priests, and Warlocks. To a lesser extent, casters also include Druids (in certain forms) and Shamans.

Purpose: To quickly destroy enemies from a distance using powerful spells.

Because casters are weak to melee attacks they should find tank classes to tank for them whenever possible.

Buffs
If you have any buff spells available which can help other party members, make sure the buffs are always active. At the very least make sure the tanks in the party have them.

Other Tips

  • Let tanks know when you’re being attacked so that they can taunt the monsters off you.
  • When a monster is attacking you, don’t run. Stand still and let the tank know so that they can taunt the monster off you. If you run, it is more difficult for the tank to taunt the monster.
  • Carry drinks so that you can regenerate your mana between combat sessions.
  • If the monster is trying to get away, use your direct damage spell (nuke) to finish it off. This will prevent the monster from bringing back help (you hope).

Hybrid

hybrid is any class that is capable of filling (at least partially) roles primarily held by other classes. A paladin is a hybrid because it can tank in lieu of a Warrior, and heal in lieu of a Priest. A Shaman is a hybrid because it can deal damage in lieu of a Rogue/Hunter/Mage, but also heals in lieu of a Priest. A Druid can be a Warrior/Rogue/Caster/healer. A Rogue is NOT a hybrid because they deal melee damage, that is their primary role. They cannot heal, tank, or crowd control (sap aside).

DPS

o down or kill the monsters, you need damage. The classes that fit this role must do high DPS (damage-per-second) or damage. The best classes for this role are the Mage, Warlock, Hunter, and Rogue. All four of these classes have the potential to deal the most damage in a party or raid depending on their skill, talent build, and equipment. You might see someone asking for a DPS class. This is what they’re looking for. Keep in mind that high damage classes need to watch their threat/aggro to prevent the monster from leaving the main tank (Warrior usually). Rogues can use Feint while Hunters can use Feign Death. Mages and Warlocks need to just stop attacking for a while until the other players in the party or raid do more damage or the tank gains more aggro/threat.
