Guild Charter
Overview
Children of Ilúvatar (COI) is a casual Alliance Guild on the Caelestrasz (PVE)-Oceanic Realm of World of Warcraft.
COI is a very casual guild. We are not a strict raiding guild nor a strict PvP guild nor a strict role-playing guild (although we may have groups of people in the guild who pursue such interests). We are a guild that believes that players of World of Warcraft should be given the opportunity to experience multiple aspects of game play and that a lack of experience does not imply a lack of aptitude. As a guild COI seeks to help members get the most out of their play time and become the best players they can.
Every voice in COI is equal, and we enjoy open conversation as long as you do not belittle your fellow members. If you have any ideas/suggestions/comments/etc, please submit them to the officers at any time, or post them on the website.
As a member of COI with the tag over your character?s head, you represent COI as a whole and are expected to act accordingly. You may not get along with everybody in the guild, but you are expected to be polite and civil to your fellow guild mates.
COI?s core goal is to assist players both in game and in real life through forming friendships and being a source of encouragement. Super Officers and above are therefore expected to make this vision a priority in their guild interactions.
The guild policy will be published at http://www.childrenofiluvatar.com. Remember, ignorance of the law excuses no one. Every member is expected to be familiar with the guild policies and abide by them.
Guild Ranks
General Membership
- Initiate
After being invited and joining the player will be enter the guild as a Initiate. This is a probationary rank with limited privileges. During this time, the Initiate is expected to become familiar with the guild polices and to register in the official guild website (http://www.childrenofiluvatar.com). Within two (2) to twelve (12) weeks of joining, the Initiate?s member ship status will be reviewed and the Initiate will be either promoted to Member or removed from the guild. - Member
Member is the highest non-officer rank in COI. A Member is considered a member in good standing and carries with it the full privilege and responsibility of COI membership. - Time Out
Time Out is a rank that has no ability to speak in guild chat. This rank is used in the rare situation that a member is causing a problem that requires restriction but does not warrant an immediate removal from the guild.
Officer Ranks
- Officer
Officers assist with bringing in new members and resolving conflicts. The Officer is a junior officer rank and perform a mentoring function within the guild.Officers are only selected through nomination by current Officers or other higher ranking officers. The Officer rank is not the result of general member progression or solicitation by members. To promote a guild member to the rank of Officer, the existing Officers follow this process.
- One Officer nominates the candidate.
- Another Officer seconds the nomination.
- Voting commences and lasts for a one week period.
All Officers and other guild officers in good standing may vote. Quorum is 50% of the Officer population (rounding down if the population is an odd number). Once quorum is met, a candidate must get a majority of ?yea? votes. An abstention counts towards quorum but is not counted as a vote. - If the candidate is accepted by vote, a recommendation is sent to the Guild Leader, Firstborn, and Super Officers recommending the candidate for promotion.
The vote is only a means to achieve consensus among the Officers. The upper-tier officers make the final decision about all promotions, and may promote a member at any time.
- Super Officer
Super Officers have the same responsibilities as Officers, but are also responsible for executing Officer promotions, handling escalations of guild policy issues, and managing guild resources. - Firstborn
This rank consists of guild founders. - Guild Leader
Our leader.
Raiding
Children of Ilúvatar is by no means a ?Raiding Guild?. Raiding here will be done on a friendly and amicable basis, and those that raid do not have any preferential status over those that concentrate on other in game pursuits.
The guild does not officially organize or designate raid teams or leaders so if you wish to participate in raids please contact those members who have taken it upon themselves to organize teams or form a team yourself. Remember that you are still expected to treat every member in your raid group with respect and to conduct yourself in a civil manner.
PvP
Like raiding, we are not a hardcore PvP guild. However, members are encouraged to formed arena teams and organized battleground groups. Occasionally, as a guild, we coordinate World PvP events as well as PvP Initiation events in order to jump-start PvP among those who may have not experienced it yet. You may PvP as you wish, whether it be casual or hardcore.
